Started by a railfan from Lawrenceville, Georgia along the old Silver Comet route. Most of the videos on this channel will be from the CSX Abbeville Subdivision and Norfolk Southern Piedmont Division, but I occasionally visit the CSX Nahunta Sub, First Coast Railroad on Amelia Island, and the Norfolk Southern Atlanta North District. I try to be informative and helpful with my videos, questions are always welcome.

There is a stop sign for the road on both sides, and the train has a 15mph limit. It’s also not a very busy area, very rural so not many cars go across the track there

For sure, the Hartwells units are unique in that they’re unchanged from their original railroads state, but they could use touch ups on paint and new number boards and all
I ran a few old Rio Grandes in my W&LE days.
Must’ve been a treat, as long as they worked right. It looks like D&RGW took pretty good care of their engines when they had them
@@SilverCometMedia I wouldn’t say itv was a treat. Just another beat up GP40 or SD40-2T. Worn out, wheel slipping, dirty junk engine with a different paint job. 😅.

No sir, not until I was leaving. I was 15 and was new to the hobby, wasn't aware this road was off limits at the time. An outbound crew did see us and waved, so I wasn't aware that we shouldn't have been there. I've learned a lot in the 4 and a half years since then, and have stayed out of rail yards

Thanks! All the clips were taken between Auburn, GA and Elberton, GA. Everything before 6:48 is between Auburn and Bogart, and everything after 6:48 is between Hull and Elberton

I'm guessing the detour train "missed" the left turn at Greenwood, SC which would have been ...um...more direct...between Charoltte and Jax...via SAV than via ATL and Manchester? Or did it "slingshot" back over the Georgia sub to Augusta thence Sav? Any known facts?
It was a very odd routing, it went via Manchester to Jacksonville. I’m not sure why, because they routed X037 via the Abbeville and X031 via Augusta and Savannah. I’m not sure the reason behind their routing unless it had something to do with clearance issues
